The Bistro at Grande Provence Franschhoek is now open! The Franschhoek Wine Valley is in my opinion the most prestigious wine tasting regions in the Western Cape. Locals and tourists alike can expect to pay ‘top Dollar’ for fine dining in luxurious settings. And while I absolutely love being fabulous, it is a breath of fresh air to welcome more concepts like The Bistro at Grande Provence to the Franschhoek Wine Valley.
Location: The Bistro at Grande Provence
Grande Provence happens to be one of the most luxurious estates boasting a massive garden simply scattered with expensive sculptures, wine tasting facilities and a fine dining restaurant.
Grande Provence is also one of the wine farm stops along the infamous Franschhoek Wine Tram route which hundreds of tourists rely on to get from wine farm to wine farm.
With limited time at each stop, Grande Provence recognised an opportunity to have an area where visitors can enjoy a quick bite to eat and a glass of wine in a more casual setting.
The Bistro at Grande Provence Franschhoek is just next door to the garden sculpture gallery and outdoor wine tasting area where children are welcome to play along the open grass area.
The Concept
“We want The Bistro at Grande Provence Franschhoek to be a place where visitors can relax without having to wait for meals to be prepared. Our harvest table concept allows visitors to quickly grab a bite to eat and our setting is more casual.” says Marna Viljoen, Hospitality Manager.

The food
The harvest table boasts a wide and ever changing array of fresh fruits, breads, cheeses, pies, quiche, salads and cakes.
The harvest table concept will either be priced per head or by weight of the food ordered. I would absolutely recommend the chicken pie as well as the delicious cakes for dessert!
The Wine
Wine tasting is also available at The Bistro at Grande Provence and I would highly recommend that you enquire about the Hummus and wine pairing.
Taste 3 wines each paired with a cracker and hummus spread for just R90 a tasting.
What’s next?
Overall, I would say this is a great retreat for the summer or winter months. The Bistro at Grande Provence Franschhoek is continuously evolving. Over the next couple of months you can expect Braai Days, A Gin Bar, A Juice Bar and Coffee Bar!

Worst service ever, Marna. What stupid excuse to pay double if you have wine on the wine farm!!! No where stated, your license problems is not mine! No wine farm has ever treated us in this manner, please get your manager to contact me ASAP. We local and this was not my first time on this farm. Wors waiters also.
Hi Andre, you are not the first one to say so. Please do raise this with the senior management at Grande Provence. They are still very new so I am sure that any constructive feedback will be much appreciated. Did you book prior?
Utterly disappointed by staff and Manager Marna Viljoen….. Customer service training needed!!!
Oh no, that sounds like you had a horrible experience. They are still new so I guess they do need training. I do hope you raised this with the management at Grande Provence. Feedback is always important.
The food was horrible who serves a curry quiche ?never heard of one and it didn’t tell us on the menu ! Bright yellow quiche 🤪
Oh no! When I went, the food was really good! I think a curry quiche is quite South African don’t you think?
