Clos Malverne is my 159th winery visit in South Af Clos Malverne is my 159th winery visit in South Africa, it offers the whole package from wine pairing lunches to accommodation to an ice cream & wine pairing and even a day spa.

@closmalverne is located in the Stellenbosch Wine Route (Devon Valley) not far from JC Le Roux and Louisvale. This region is famed for producing excellent red wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, and Clos Malverne is no exception.

Walker Bay Estate is my 158th winery visit in Sout Walker Bay Estate is my 158th winery visit in South Africa. This winery is situated about a 2-hour drive from Cape Town in the small town of Stanford which is just outside of the coastal town of Hermanus.

What I love about this winery is that they have a “red chardonnay” with a wax seal at a good price (R150 a bottle). It is something novel which sets them apart. There are three different options for wine tasting. Select the white wine tasting for R90 for 5 wines, the red wine tasting for R100 for 5 wines or R100 for 5 of the estate wines. Their wines are of great value and quality. The staff are also well versed in how the wine is made (especially Angela who really did a great job explaining all the different wines to us).

Today I tried three different Sauvignon Blanc wine Today I tried three different Sauvignon Blanc wines from three different wine regions in celebration of International Sauvignon Blanc day.

🥂 Constantia
🥂 Stellenbosch
🥂 Durbanville

Here you can see a Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc by @diemersdalwines

A classically styled Sauvignon Blanc showing a lemon-lime colour. On the nose; tropical fruit, ripe figs and gooseberries.

The grapes were night harvested at different stages of ripeness, with the blocks harvested and vinified separately. Three weeks' alcoholic fermentation, temperature controlled at 14-16ºC, post fermentation lees contact to enhance concentration and mouth feel.

R80 a bottle.

Here you can see a Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc by @wildebergwine

From dry grown vines, the grapes are hand-picked, crushed then naturally fermented at Wildeberg.

Tasting notes:
A wave of rich tropical, leafy notes on the nose sway to a broad palate of tight lime-leaf, bay and silky texture with a super-bright, naturally acid finish.

R250 a bottle.
