The hottest new rooftop bar in Cape Town – Chinchilla – overlooks Camps Bay beach and it’s a winner of an evening! Think tapas, cocktails and music overlooking a majestic sunset.
I treated myself to sundowners as a little break from the winelands.
Turns out, you can take me away from the winelands but you can’t take the winelands away from me 🙂 Despite the temptation of many fancy cocktails, I happily sipped on this ice-cold Rosé by Delaire Graff.
The wine glasses were on point!
The menu is quite expensive for locals – you pay around R110 – R220 a meal and so you expect mega food but you end up with quite a small portion of food. So remember, it’s a tapas bar in Camps Bay – you are paying for the views! Also, between 4-8pm there’s a DJ playing the decks.
Definitely a place for sundowner drinks, and then repeat orders of food over time to keep you going. The menu is majority seafood but there is a burger, steak and chicken option.
The service was excellent because there are plenty of barmen and the waiters are very friendly. Book a table though, I can see this place getting super busy at the bar.
Sunsets were incredible! It’s right on the beach front so you will get ocean views and red, red skies! Talk about romance!
Be prepared to mingle with foreigners and strike up some interesting conversations about Cape Town at the bar.
I had a great time and I am sure you will too! Cheers!
