I was fortunate enough to meet Johan and Jana who not only run a fabulous guest house in the Robertson Wine Valley called Galloway, but are also family of a boutique wine farm called Exdiem. #tastethelifestyle
Visits to this farm is by appointment only and the farm welcomes you to a relaxed pizza, olive and wine pairing evening.
The Wentzel family purchased the farm just recently in 2011 and is now starting to produce some amazing Pinot Noir (R120) among other varietals including Chenin Blanc Hanepoot (R82), Chenin Blanc (R65) and Rosé (56). The vineyard that you see in the below photo is of their Chenin.
The family does not only produce wine, but some great olives and olive oil! They have over 6500 olive trees which were planted in 2012.
I joined them for a “make your own” pizza evening which included olive and wine tasting. We were lucky enough to enjoy such a great night!
Just down the road from this wine farm is the very modern Galloway guest house which is run by Johan and Jana.
I am very picky with accommodation and this had it all! Clean, modern and fresh yet country and homely. P.s. the towels are amazing from Nortex. You can literally wrap the massive towel around you and become instantly dry! This may sound funny but you have to try it for yourself to experience it! hehe.
The entire guest house is wheelchair friendly and the gardens are extremely well manicured with some gorgeous country views of the mountains. Breakfast is available and there is a swimming pool.
Johan and Jana are both extremely lovely people and you will enjoy chatting to them. Their hospitality is really out of this world amazing! I would highly recommend this accommodation and wine farm visit to anyone. I would even go back a few times. 🙂
So which farm will be next?
