I recently heard about Healey’s Cheese Deli in Somerset West for having a great cheese and wine selection so I had to try it for myself. It’s also the perfect time to do so because they have just unveiled the latest vintage of their exclusive, Single Release Cheddar! There is only 200kg available. It sells for R75 per 200g wedge.
It was very easy to find and is just on the way to Waterkloof Wine Estate. What’s great about Healey’s is that their cheese is made from milk that is free of hormones and steroids. It’s also made on site and is free of all preservatives, artificial colouring, flavour enhances and anti-moulds.
You can actually see the cheese being made at the Deli! Healey’s Farmhouse Cheddar is one of the world’s top four cheeses, winning accolades since 2005. Have a look at how it’s made below…
I tucked into this Healey’s platter which was just R170 and enough for 2 people. It paired wonderfully with a Waterkloof Sauvignon Blanc. They also have cakes, coffee, biltong, locally sourced condiments, fresh bread, some delicious charcuterie, light meals, Mad Giant craft beer and the full range of Waterkloof wines.
If you sit outside, you will have a bird’s eye view of the mountain and ocean. Plus there is a jungle gym so you can keep the kids entertained.
The inside is trendy too!
