A guilt free January with Four Cousins

January is hard.
Back to work, exercising more, eating healthy and still trying to fit in a social life. The Social Life part is probably the worst because you really don’t want to look like a party pooper.

That’s where Four Cousins come in. Their Skinny wines are Weigh-Less approved. That means, less sugar and less alcohol (only 9.5% and you know we are used to 12-15%!). So you can socialise without feeling too guilty.

I was skeptical at first. I really thought these wines would taste watered down but I was pleasantly surprised!

The Skinny White was by far my favourite. It was fresh and dry with notes of kiwi and jasmine. On the nose you can pick up pear from the Fernao Pires grapes, which make up 60% of the blend. I really enjoyed this wine on its own but it also worked well with these olives from Olyfberg. I can imagine this will be a lovely wine with vegetarian dishes or even sushi.

The Skinny Rosé is quite sweet – and this really is a treat! True to the original blush wine from Four Cousins. This wine has an aromatic muscat nose and you can certainly taste sweet cranberry flavours.

Now there is also a Skinny Red – It is also a sweet wine which is easy drinking but for me best served chilled. it is an unwooded red wine with full, ripe summer berry flavours from the Merlot grape.

‘Enjoy life with us in a healthy and active way, where fun and balance meet’,” says Philip Retief, CEO of Van Loveren, the family-owned company in Robertson. “This is how you can complement your meals with excellent wine without having to worry about excessive kilogram’s.”

“A healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean denying yourself everything that is pleasant. Van Loveren stands precisely for health, balance and great times with family and friends.”

Become part of the Four Cousins family! like I did.

I took a visit to the new tasting room in Robertson and I literally became the 5th Cousin! Read my review of the tasting room HERE.
